The Muay Thai Method – Is This One Of The Most Powerful Martial Arts Styles?
The muay thai style is one of the legendry form of martial arts styles. It encompasses very showy techniques which are effective and not just for the showman. The techniques which are utilised use the hands, feet, knees and elbows to combat against an opponent. There is also a small amount of grappling involved which is commonly referred to as the clinch.
The clinch is executed when an attacker gets into your area of personal space. You as the student then attack with short kicks, then you use your knees to deliver high impact blows to the stomach, legs, knees and ribs. The muay thai martial artist will train a lot with the knees and elbows as these are deemed to be most effective. Believe me you will never want to get in close quarters with a proficient muay thai artist.
You may have seen footage on the internet or in films where you see a muay thai artist perform a high kick to the opponent, which looks very showy, but the reality is that thai fighters use the knees and elbows more as they inflict more damage to the opponent. If you concentrate your experience with power then you will have a deadly self-defence routine under your belt.
There are two muay thai techniques that were invented which have become very popular with many other forms of martial arts including the roundhouse kick and the low kick. The roundhouse kick is good for self-defence and to show your expertise of the art in competitions. It is executed by using a straight leg and then moving your entire body around whilst rotating from your hip. By doing this the hip is then locked into position before the leg which is thrown makes an impact against your attacker. If done correctly and with enough power it will easily make someone unconscious.
The low kick is a well known muay thai method. It is a circular movement in which the student’s body circles around and kicks out at the opponent in the shin area. If this is executed correctly enough times during a fight then your opponent will no longer be able to stand. It can also be difficult to defend against in close quarters, but this is where muay thai martial artist excel.
It is known the world over that the training involved in becoming advanced in mauy thai can be extremely intense and hard going. It is said that experts in this arts can withstand beatings and pain that you or I could not in a million years. It is in my opinion one of the most hardcore martial arts styles out and not for the faint hearted. But it can be devastatingly effective, it can only take one strike with the correct force behind it to put your opponent down.
